Indications:

Modafinil 200 mg is indicated to manage sleep-related disorders that cause excessive drowsiness, including narcolepsy, obstructive sleep apnea, and shift work sleep disorder. It supports improved concentration and daytime functioning. Modafinil is also occasionally used off-label in conditions requiring enhanced cognitive clarity or reduced fatigue.

Mechanism of Action:

Modafinil exerts its effects by altering the balance of brain chemicals involved in sleep-wake regulation. By inhibiting the dopamine transporter, it raises dopamine levels in synaptic spaces. It further modulates pathways involving norepinephrine, orexin, glutamate, and histamine, while reducing the action of GABA. These effects result in increased vigilance and wakefulness.
